Looking for a way to give back to the local DC community? Cheer DC has several opportunities to volunteer and donate directly in the DC community. Season 9 will provide enhanced opportunities to support with World Pride in June 2025, and our goal to surpass the $17,500 that was donated to Rainbow Families last year. Learn more about this year’s beneficiary below.
Volunteer
Cheer DC welcomes volunteer applications for both performing members and production members each year. Performing members must be able to commit time to a weekly team practice, events in the DC-area throughout the year, and be available for the entirety of Capital Pride weekend. Production volunteers must complete an interview process and actively participate in events by supporting the performing members, assisting with technology and/or music logistics, social media and documentation of events, and more.
Donate
Each year our active membership submits nominations and votes on an organization to receive our donations for the year at the Capital Pride Festival. Eligible organizations must have 501c3 nonprofit status and be local to the DC community. In Season 8, we raised a total of $17,500 for Rainbow Families. Our membership has selected Rainbow Families to be our Season 9 beneficiary.
Request an Appearance
Cheer DC volunteers at several community events throughout the DC area. Past events include the Cherry Blossom Parade, the DC High Heel Race, Gay Games, Sin City Classic, OUTfest Philly, Falls Church Memorial Day Parade, the DC Anti Violence Project, Shaw Art All Night, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Washington Prodigy events, and more. While we volunteer at events that may not be specifically LGBT+ focused, we are committed to accepting event requests for organizations that are LGBT+ allies. Sponsorship Opportunities
Cheer DC welcomes organizational donations in addition to our individual donation and volunteer opportunities. We are currently developing an in-depth sponsorship packet that will include specific opportunities for your organization to support our mission in the LGBT+ community. As the sponsorship packet is finalized, it will be uploaded here. In the meantime, please contact our fundraising chair (fundraising@cheerdc.org) to discuss our available opportunities.
